Chinks In Najib’s Armour

I remember when something along these lines was organised for Mahathir:

The MCA and 15 major Chinese guilds will host a welcome dinner for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. The event will be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre tomorrow.

Among the organisers are the Malaysian Seven Major Clans Association, the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia, the Malaysia Lion and Dragon Dance Association, the Eight Malaysian Chinese Organisations and the SMI Association of Malaysia.

Organising chairman and MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said some 2,200 people have been invited to the dinner.

They are mainly leaders from the Chinese guilds, Chinese chambers of commerce and Barisan Nasional component parties. [The Star]

Since all the members of the organisations and associations that are organising the event are also Malaysian citizens, I am wondering what need there is for them to hold a “welcome dinner” for the Prime Minister of the country they are citizens of.

Najib is not some frickin’ outsider we invited over to head the Federal Government.

THE OLD MAN was given a much grander reception, I must say, complete with imperial robes and expensive tea.

It was a sight to behold, I tell you.

Najib’s do tomorrow will likely be a more down-to-earth affair, and that’s understandable.

He’ll have to take on the royalty, raze the judiciary to the ground, and kick out a few deputies, while at the same time ensure that the economy grows by leaps and bounds, before he gets a tea reception fit for an emperor.

I’ve no real quarrel with giving the PM a lavish welcome dinner – welcome to the highest leadership position in the country. But why only confined to one community and not organized jointly by all major communities to reflect 1 Malaysia concept? This ethnocentric habit is to me a major factor that stands in the way of a thorough social integration.

HI!! RUNNING DOGS from MCA, REMEMBER TO ASK THIS QUESTION::

Muhyiddin Yassin said: “Umno will fight to the last drop of blood to protect Malay rights, the status of the Malay Rulers, Bahasa Melayu and Islam as these matters are enshrined in the Constitution.”

I know how to vote next time.

    Great title.

We are still in the stone age in mindset. Why hold an ethnic-based dinner when recognition should be for what is done in national interest? It’s all like doing favours, getting welcomed, not doing favours, not getting welcomed. In the first place, what needs to be done, just do it. It’s not about favours. It’s about doing what needs to be done. It’s just chickin scared by both sides as they feel and flesh out each other.

I can’t write no more. The blood’s gone south. Budapest wrung me dry. Deliciously so. ;P
